We are a Mexican company that believes in the power of every bite to change the world. We rescue what we call "ugly food" and we give it a second life, creating high quality groceries.

Why do we do it?

Every kilogram of food we do not use is wasted water: 70% of the water withdrawn is used for irrigation.

Every kilogram of discarded food becomes new material for landfill and is a source of greenhouse gases.

Every kilogram of food that does not reach our table increases the price of food.

Currently, we consider as "waste" and discard almost 40% of the food we produce.

Food waste has become common practice, and in the process, we have lost sight of the true human, energy and environmental cost of having food on our tables.

Addressing food waste

Our three lines of action

At Chum Chum we have developed three lines of action to address food waste:

Food Upcycling: we are dedicated to rescuing these foods and transforming them into new products, such as seasonings or ready-to-eat groceries, mainly aimed at the Food Service sector. In this way, we manage to reduce waste and offer sustainable solutions to our customers.

Consulting to reduce food waste: We provide consultancy to companies in the food industry, analyzing their wastage and identifying areas of opportunity to reduce waste or create new by-products.

Manufacturing as a service: We create custom-made products for our clients, ensuring food waste reduction and water savings, either as private label or for export.

Despite considerable advances in food technology to extend the shelf life of our products, this is often achieved through the use of additives.

In contrast, at Chum Chum, we always seek to leverage food technology responsibly to create products free of additives, preservatives and chemicals.
